A healing item upgrading it gives you more healing uses in a level. OP might not be able to "choose" their starting weapon per se, but they can make sure it, and any other weapons found early on in the run, is one of those in a very short list, thus greatly increasing the odds of getting something that they want.Honestly, there isn't a lot of permanent progression here. People who want those diverse runs will always play their save with everything unlocked, people who want to remove a couple items from the drop table can do that, and people who only want a few possible items to drop can do that too. Not quite as much freedom as choosing your starting gear, and the way to do it is a bit obnoxious, but at least it's there. Yet other times I get a weapon that I just don't enjoy using no matter what, and again there the random factor hurts my fun more than it helps.įortunately, the game currently allows players to choose which weapons they want to unlock. Allows for more replayability.īut some other times, I want to do a run with specific weapon or strategy, and the RNG can ruin that. Sure, sometimes I like being surprised and getting random loot. Random starting weapons allow for diverse runs, that's very true.īut is "diverse runs" necessarily what everyone wants? All the time? Otherwise, some people may just take the weapons they like the best and stick with them all the time. Originally posted by tha grumbie:The random starting weapons are a good option imo. If you don't find it fun, again, not your game.
That's where the replay value lies and that's what fans of the genre find fun. You make do with what the game provides you with and see how far you can get. Roguelikes/roguelites are about the journey, not victory or progression.
If you're still complaining about RNG, go play something else, because this one's not for you. I can already tell you, too, do not understand what kind of game you've been playing for "hundreds of runs". None of this has anything to do with the actual topic at hand, so please be a darling and cry elsewhere. Is this the kind of game for you then? Because you seem to be disliking a big aspect of the game. Surely there should be something like the gold % of loss or keep factor for dead cells as well? So 30 mins wasted again 60 cells lost and BP's back to level 1 and 100 health. Sure I don't mind dying but why should I have to lose 60 dead cells when some useless homing bats almost wipe me out in mid fight with a scorpion. Its boring levelling all your weps and support to even level 4 takes an age and tbh unless RNG is your side your dead before you start against the bosses or in the Ossary or prison depths. Having to start at level 1 at 100 health every single time you die is just too tediuos for words. Not because I want too be OP nescessarily but I have done 100's of runs with all wep combo's and you know what works and what are absolute dross. I already do it now new run / abort run respawn until I get the weps I want. I totally disagree with not being able to unlocck or choose your weapons. Twin swords are far better and in the long run quicker and there is no delay in attack. Its fine if the initial hit is a kill but against better mobs its lacking dps.
